Hello my lovely readers!
It’s been a while since we last sat down like this. About two weeks now?
I’m happy to take some time again to share more of my thoughts about my favorite writing things with you and today, I wanted to take some time to chat about my favorite way to let my readers immerse into the story.
I’ve read a quite a few books in my life (well, who here hasn’t?) and, like most of you probably, I’ve noticed that there are differences in the writing style of each writer.
I think it’s wonderful that every writer has their own distinctive way of describing things, feelings, thoughts, actions and more.
Before I started reading more novels, I was an avid manga reader. I still love them and have a collection of my favorite manga in my bookshelf right next to me as I’m writing this. I always liked the way the pictures could make the story so much more immersive even when it wasn’t a moving video like a film or an anime.
Maybe that’s where my fondness for more colorful writing stems from. I remember, when I was younger, I said that I wanted to do ‘3d writing’ that felt like you were watching a movie when you were reading. I always smile at the memory, but my aspirations haven’t changed too much.
I want my readers to be able to immerse themselves deeply into the story. Feel the objects around my characters, smell the scents that waft through the air, recognize the distinctive tone and character of each person from their clothes to their steps.
To me, a story becomes great when I think back and don’t just recall the words, but vividly remember the scenes because of how cinematic they were written.
Oftentimes when I read a book in first person and it is majorly built on inner monologue of the characters feelings and thoughts, but not much about the world surrounding them, I only remember the book in a greyish hue. It doesn’t mean that it was bad, I’ve read a few books written like that that I adored because the writer was simply amazing with the way they did it. My preferred point of view is the first person as well, but I simply prefer to give my imagination a little more color to work with in my descriptions and build a more immersive world with more details about their surroundings in all five senses.
Of course, Witch’s Love will be a book made for everyone who also loves colorful writing and wants the scenes to play like a movie in their mind as they’re reading and going on an adventure with the characters, smiling, laughing, crying and falling in love with them.
What is you preferred writing style?
Tell me in the comments below and let’s chat about it!^^
Thank you for reading today’s post!
I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.
Love,
-Nika.^^
